Run To The Hills

What started out as a rainy morning, turned into a beautiful day to run for an important, local cause. On May 21st, a few members of our team ran a 5k in order to support our local Boy Scout Troop.  The mission of Troop 8, as well as the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare these young men to make good choices throughout their lifetime.  The idea is that these values are set in stone at a young age, to carry with them into adulthood.  This race also supported one of the three objectives of the Scouting program: fitness.  This is the third aim of the Boy Scouts, to maintain good physical, mental, and emotional fitness.Onto our attire-- a few of our members, Morganne (second one in on the left) and our President Todd's wife Beth (all the way on the right) decided to find a fun way to make us stand out while we were running.  So the idea of high socks, sweatbands, and headbands won the vote.  It was a fun way to get us ready and excited to run, along with the idea that everyone knew we were a part of a team. The race began at Sawkill Fire Department, continued on Sawkill Road, up Jockey Hill Road and then back down to the Fire Dept.  The proceeds of this race go to Troop 8, assisting with their needs for camping, hiking, service and leadership opportunities.  We had a great time supporting our local Boy Scout Troop, and can't wait to head back for next year's race!  A few of our colleagues have decided to pursue other races, alike to this one, to help support the communities around us.  Needless to say, this was an entertaining and lively company outing; we couldn't be happier to sponsor our local Boy Scout Troop.
