'Michigan Saves' Program Finances Megawatt of Solar

The state of Michigan recently started a program called Michigan Saves, their mission being to help support the residents of Michigan move toward clean energy. The program was founded in 2009, by the Michigan Public Service Commission grant.Participants of the program are required to be owners of the property and once they find the company they want to work with, they apply for the loan which is supported by different lenders all over the state.“Since June 2011, the program has helped finance installations at 132 homes and nine businesses, totaling $3.5 million in solar investment. In all, Michigan Saves has been involved with roughly 8,600 projects totaling $102 million in clean energy investment.” Within the next five to seven years, Michigan Saves is aiming to finance $1 billion worth of renewable energy projects.To read more, visit Renewable Energy World.
