Project Drawdown

100 Ways to Reverse Global Warming

Two years ago I bought Solar Generation to do my bit towards addressing global warming and also to promote our country’s future energy security.  I’d like to take this opportunity to share my thoughts on global warming and bring to your attention an excellent study undertaken by Paul Hawken called Project Drawdown.

We have all heard the global warming narrative, that the burning of fossil fuels releases heat-trapping carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, which increases our planet’s overall temperature.  This increase in temperature, has and will have, tremendous consequences seen and unforeseen. Such as impacting weather patterns, ecosystems, ice sheets, coastlines and the health and security of literally everyone.

It is all quite gloomy and causes many people to express apathy, denial, anger or alternate narratives. But it does not have to be that way.  Project Drawdown is a meticulous exercise to quantify the 100 most substantive ways we, literally you and me, can do to REVERSE global warming.  Yes buying solar panels is on the list!  But so is nutrient management, composting, electric transport, household water management, clothing choices, and the number 1 on the list refrigeration.  Yes refrigeration.

Drawdown points out lots of ways each of us at the individual level can contribute to reversing global warming.  Please visit their website www.drawdown.org, check out what can be done, and let’s do it.
